What’s Truepuzzle got to do with Indian women? For one, we the co-founders are Indians, and women too. But that’s not all. In the early weeks after Truepuzzle’s birth, we found ourselves meeting up with many like us. Women from several nations. Different ages, occupations and interests, but all linked by a single thread – Indian culture. Quite plainly, this was a higher force that was drawing us together. Which was when we realized that Truepuzzle had evolved primarily as a platform for Indians.
You’re Indian. You’re a woman. You’re also an independent, career-driven soul, a stay-at-home mom who gave it all up for the family or one of the many who do a jugalbandi between home and an office. Call it the cultural ingraining or what you will, Indian women over the generations have evolved with ease and grace into many avatars. From firebrand politicians (think Mayawati, Mamata Bannerjee) to corporate leaders like Indra Nooyi who’ve crashed the glass ceiling. From beauty icons like Aishwarya Rai and Padma Lakshmi to celebrated writers (Arundhati Ghosh, Kiran Desai, Jhumpa Lahiri…too long a list!), clearly Indian women have arrived, juggling traditional roles while pushing away old boundaries. Don’t you deserve a space of your own?
